Anxious aspiring author, Allie, daringly documents her daily dealings with diagnosed disorders, donut dependency, and disillusioned dreams in this brave blog.
As a child, I was diagnosed with ADD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. In my teen years, they added on Major Depressive Disorder. When I look around this silly world, I often notice misrepresentations of people with mental health disorders. There is a profound misunderstanding and mistreatment of the mentally ill. Considering the percentage of the population affected, I think this is unacceptable and pretty lame.My blog is a place for me to vent out my frustrations, expound on my personal perspective, and find humor and hope from friends, felines, family, and fellow fighters of stigma and stupid stereotypes (who don’t mind some swearing).
I studied English Literature in college so my preferred prescription for life is stories. So I will often focus my blog on history, literature, television, movies, and other blogs. I think sharing stories helps us all feel less alone and reminds us that other people are struggling with our same issues. Not that others’ suffering is a consolation, but at least we’re in this thing together.
